Tourism Trends: Going on a Beer Vacation

If you’re looking for one last hurrah before summer is over and school starts again, consider taking a beer vacation.

No, not a vacation from beer! A vacation all about beer!

The craft beer boom has had an unexpected impact on tourism. Many travelers are selecting their destinations based on local breweries and craft beer offerings.

Michigan has a wealth of craft beer, breweries and activities to offer travelers seeking a beer vacation. Our beer-centric communities include Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Traverse City, Lansing and, of course, Frankenmuth.

If you like to explore, there are a few different Ale Trails around the state. These routes help you make the most of your beer vacation by showing you the different beer stops where you’re staying.

Saugatuck’s Sherwood Forest Bed and Breakfast offers a Bed and Breakfast and Brewery package that includes a two-night stay and access to Saugatuck Brewing Company’s brew-on-site facilities. The brewmasters from SBC will guide you through the brewing process, where you’ll brew at least 11 gallons of beer.

Many Michigan breweries offer tours of their facilities and getting one can be as simple as calling them up to ask. Frankenmuth Brewery offers tours in addition to our great Michigan craft beer.

If you’re planning a beer vacation, why not visit the Mitten State and see what America’s high-five has to offer!
